Ganvie, a village in Benin, November 2006. Ganvie has been built on poles in Lake Nokoue, near Cotonou. With a population of around 20,000 people, it is probably the largest lake village in Africa and as such is very popular with tourists. These men are pulling hard on a rope to get their fishing net out from the sea. The call and response singing which accompanies the work is very interesting.
