Belarus President Lukashenko ordered control of access to the Internet in educational institutions.The President believes that social networks such as Facebook and VKontakte can be badly affected by immature minds of youth and become a dangerous weapon in the hands of criminals. On the other hand, the President previously made a statement where he suggested "a thorough evaluation of the impact of netbooks and tablets usage at schools on children's health and the efficiency of education".
"The Internet does not replace the teacher's personality," he said. Lukashenko was most concerned about the Belarus youth because "in the hands of criminals, social networks can become dangerous weapons."
"The Internet and social networking have turned into a tool to manipulate public opinion", he added.
