What is MaYoMo ?
MaYoMo is a social media platform for global and mobile citizen journalism. With an ever-expanding corps of citizen and independent journalists based in every corner of the globe, MaYoMo is shaping the evolution of journalism and delivering the world's most inspired multimedia news content. We welcome both original contributions and materials re-published from elsewhere with proper credit.

How to Register ?
If you are a new visitor, please follow these steps:

• Click the 'Sign Up' button.
• Answer the question ( for example 9+8= ) and enter an email address
• You'll receive an email with a link for activation of your account on the MaYoMo site. If you do not receive such an email within one hour, please contact our support team at team@mayomo.com
• Click the activation link.
• You'll be sent to a page where you should enter a username and a password.
  Please read 'Terms And Conditions' and click 'I agree'.
• Type all required data (marked with *) and finish your registration.
• Congratulations! You're now part of the MaYoMo world. Welcome.

How do I log in ?
Click the 'Log in' button, then type your username and password and click 'Enter'. That's it-you're now ready to use the site!

How do I upload news ?

• You need to register first, and then you'll be able to upload news. After logging in, click the 'Upload news' button. An upload menu will open.
• Attach the file you want to upload by browsing and choosing it from the directory or folder where you have it saved on your computer.
• Write a title for your material.
• Describe the material. (Optional)
• Choose between one and three categories that are relevant to your material.
• Type some keywords (tags) to make it easier for people to search and find your material.
• If you are uploading directly from your mobile handset, choose Device (Select). From the drop-down menu labeled 'I have used this device to create the file.' select a brand. Then, in the next box, enter the model of your device. Enter date in this order and format: YYYY-MM-DD. For example, if your event took place on the 24th of December 2008, then you can type: 2008-12-24.
• Choose the country where the event or news took place.
• Please, check 'Graphic Content' if the material includes drastic scenes.
• Choose the language the material is in. You can select two different languages if, for example, there are subtitles.
• Check your data once again and then click the 'UPLOAD' button.

Uploading news by email: You can upload your material by emailing it to news@mayomo.com. The subject of your email will be the title of the material.

Can I upload from a mobile phone ?
Yes. You can upload at the site’s mobile version or send an MMS or e-mail to news@mayomo.com.

Is it free to use MaYoMo ?
Yes, it's free.

Who has the rights over my original work ?
You. When uploading, use the drop down “License” menu to pick one of the Creative Commons Licenses, so others can share and build on your material, or choose “All rights reserved” to retain complete control of your work.

When does an uploaded material go live ?
ASAP. MaYoMo needs some time to convert the media files, and then our team checks the new uploads to remove pornography, advertising and violence for the sake of violence.

How do I navigate within the map ?
You can click on each country from the world map on the main page. After clicking, the bigger view of that country will appear. Within its borders, you'll be able to see orange markers of the uploaded materials concerning this country.

How do I choose a category ?
On the main page, there are five main categories (Politics, Society, Environment, Sci-Tech and Entertainment) and subcategories within each of them. Simply click on the category you're interested in and the relevant subcategories will appear. Then, by clicking a link to a specific content item, you go immediately to it.

May I add a comment ?
Yes, you can simply comment under the article or add a ‘Reply’. In order to comment on the same page, please, click on 'Post a Comment' and type your text in the box. If you would like to add a video, photo, audio or an extensive text comment, click on 'Reply' and follow the instructions for uploading your comment. A thumbnail will appear under the post you commented and will lead you to a new window with your reply.

What is a reply ?
The reply is a video, photo, audio or text that you can add as a reply to a content item posted on MaYoMo? to present another point of view.

How can I embed videos from MaYoMo on another web site ?
There's an 'Embed' button below the video player. Click it and you'll find the script you need to embed that particular content or video on another web site.

How do I rate a video ?
When you watch a video, you will see the 'Rate this video' line with five stars on the left side. Click as many stars as you think this material deserves where one star means ‘poor’ and five stars - ‘excellent’.

How does the flag system work ?
When you view content or a comment on MaYoMo that you think is inappropriate, you can alert us about it by clicking on the flag button. That particular content or comment will be checked by our staff and removed if necessary.
